Allegan Enrichment Center AFC
Program Description
Allegan Enrichment Center (AEC) specializes in providing Adult Foster Care services for the difficult client with chronic mental illness, and for higher functioning dual diagnosed (MI/DD). Case management services may be contracted through Case Management of Michigan, Inc.
Each client that comes to the program works with our staff and his/her case manager to develop an individualized plan of service that addresses his/her unique strengths and needs, to move him/her through a continuum of care. This is accomplished by providing a comprehensive range of programs based on each client's individual needs with a one-to-three staff to client ratio. We specialize in level 4 type A, high recidivism clients who require intensive case management services.
The Allegan Enrichment Center adult foster care facility promotes normalization and integration into society. This is done through a work for pay program, community independence level system, and educational services. These programs build a foundation of scheduling, earning, budgeting, and spending. These programs are evaluated and implemented on an individual basis, taking into account the clients' current ability and working toward increasing skills and independence.
As clients become more proficient with work for pay and educational programs they can progress to outside employment and community based educational programs. Community employment and educational access is achieved through the internal work for pay and educational programs, leading to enclave services and competitive employment as individual progression is accomplished.
In keeping with the normalization concept, we place a high priority on community integration. As clients earn money from the work for pay program, or community job placement, community outings are made available. Clients are encouraged to participate in all activities.
